Demonstrating Readiness
English Readiness
Students interested in enrolling in NOVA courses that require college-level English proficiency must satisfy the applicable English placement and course eligibility requirements.
Depending on NOVA’s current placement policies, students may be able to demonstrate English readiness through approved measures such as:
- Qualifying high school academic records or coursework
- Approved SAT or ACT scores
- Qualifying Advanced Placement (AP) examination results
- Approved International Baccalaureate (IB) examination results
- Other placement measures accepted by NOVA
Students interested in courses with English prerequisites must confirm their eligibility directly with NOVA before registration.
Mathematics Readiness
Students planning to enroll in mathematics courses or other college courses requiring specific mathematical skills must meet the applicable NOVA placement and prerequisite requirements.
Depending on the course and current NOVA policies, students may demonstrate mathematics readiness through:
- Qualifying high school mathematics coursework
- Approved standardized test scores
- Qualifying AP or IB mathematics examination results
- Successful completion of prerequisite college mathematics courses
- Other placement measures accepted by NOVA
Students interested in advanced mathematics courses must satisfy any additional prerequisites established for the specific course.
