Future Heroes: Mastering Safety Skills with Local Firefighters
It wasn’t just a show-and-tell day; it was a hands-on training day! Our students had an incredible time mastering vital safety skills, including practicing exactly how to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” and learning the right things to say when calling a 911 operator during an emergency.
The excitement continued outside as students marveled at the sheer length of the fire engine’s water hose. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day came when they lifted the firefighters’ compressed-air tanks. They were amazed to discover that the gear is almost as heavy as they are! It gave them a newfound appreciation for the physical strength required for the job—confirming what we already knew: firefighters really are superheroes.
