Islamic Studies

At Falcon Academy, Islamic Studies is a cornerstone of our educational mission, aiming to nurture learners’ faith, values, and understanding of Islam in ways that are deeply rooted, age-appropriate, and personally meaningful. Aligned with our elementary and middle school frameworks and guided by the three-dimensional model of teaching and learning—concepts, skills, and content—our approach develops learners’ spiritual awareness, ethical reasoning, and Islamic identity.

Islamic Studies in Elementary School

In elementary school, Islamic Studies is taught through inquiry-based, experiential learning that helps young learners explore and internalize Islamic teachings. Core concepts such as belief, submission, responsibility, and compassion are introduced through stories from the Qur’an and the Sunnah, hands-on activities, role-play, and daily reflections. Lessons include fundamentals of ‘Aqeedah (belief), acts of worship (Ibadah), prophetic manners (Akhlaq), Seerah, and Islamic history, all connected to learners’ lives in meaningful ways.

Through differentiated instruction, children are supported at various readiness levels—whether they are native Arabic speakers or new learners of Islamic concepts. Recitation and memorization of selected short surahs are paired with understanding and application. Skills such as respectful dialogue, self-management, prayer routines, and collaboration are developed through practice and modeling, forming a strong moral and spiritual foundation.

Islamic Studies in Middle School

In middle school, Islamic Studies becomes a space for deeper reflection, inquiry, and critical engagement with the principles of Islam. Learners explore complex topics such as Tawheed, jurisprudence (Fiqh), Islamic values in the modern world, comparative ethics, biographies of the prophets and companions, and the historical development of the Muslim world. Emphasis is placed on ethical reasoning, analyzing textual sources (Qur’an and Hadith), and applying Islamic teachings to contemporary global and personal issues.

Instruction encourages conceptual exploration—such as justice, stewardship, identity, and responsibility—while building essential skills in reflection, research, communication, and ethical decision-making. Lessons are taught in both Arabic and English (as appropriate), and learners engage in debates, service learning, multimedia projects, Qur’an tafsir sessions, and learner-led khutbahs and presentations.

Assessment is diverse and meaningful. Formative assessments include reflection journals, class discussions, recitation checks, and self-assessments. Summative assessments are authentic and multifaceted, including projects such as planning a zakat campaign, writing a khutbah, analyzing case studies using Islamic principles, or creating a digital Seerah timeline. Learners are encouraged to demonstrate their understanding through multiple modalities—oral, written, artistic, and action-based.

Across all grade levels, Islamic Studies at Falcon Academy fosters faith, empathy, and purpose. Learners are not only taught Islamic knowledge—they are guided to live it, embodying the values of honesty, humility, and service. Our ultimate goal is to raise compassionate, responsible, and spiritually grounded individuals who are proud of their faith and prepared to contribute positively to their communities and the world.
